The Stranger, The Queen and The Prince
The Prince is forced to look on as the Stranger seduces his mother.
But it quickly becomes apparent that the Queen plays the hand of a seductress as well. The Prince decides to intercede and is about to do so when he suddenly finds himself in the arms of The Stranger.
His mother no longer around he has his 'Swan' to himself. But the White Swan of his dreams soon becomes the Black Swan of his nightmares.....
I...instead of comforting and caring, this Swan is derisive and cruel, leaving the Prince confused...
The Stranger/Black Swan drives the point home in calculated fashion.
As the Prince battles to free himself he looks up to find that everyone is looking at him - pointing and
whispering and the Swan has vanished into thin air. He attempts to leave but his path is blocked by his mother and The Stranger who has now returned. They begin to taunt him.
The Prince looks around to see the others laugh and mock him as well. He escapes the room.
But then comes back to find them in an embrace. He attempts to break them up and win his 'Swan' back for himself. But the Stranger throws him to the side in disgust.
The Prince comes to deal with his mother the only way he feels is left to him. The Stranger appears to attempt to calm him down. A struggle for the gun ensues. Two guns go off.
The Girlfriend is accidently shot. The Prince then completely undone, throws himself at the Stranger in one last attempt for salvation, for love, for comfort. But he is coldly rebuked yet again.

The Prince is dragged off leaving behind the scheming Press Secretary and his ruthless son...and the Queen who is about to learn a very hard lesson.
This part is pretty tough to describe in one sentence bites. So I have transcribed bits and pieces of Matthew Bourne's book regarding this part of the story in case you aren't sure of what's real and what's imagined by the Prince. Even if you think you know what's what, you might want to read it as there are some truly interesting tidbits on how this whole scene came to play out. Click here.
