Just Another Day in the Life of the Prince
The Royal Party arrives at the Opera House for the ballet; the prince's girlfriend already 'out of place'.
She proceeds to embarrass and humiliate all around her with behaviour more appropriate to a soccer match: snacking on munchies and having the temerity to offer some to the Queen; then cheering wildly and obnoxiously at the most inappropriate parts of the performance.
Her poor manners result in her belongings jettisoning themselves onto the the stage and the dancers below thus bringing her to her final coupe de gras - a blazing exit across the stage during the most dramatic point of the ballet. The Royal Party is left front and center of this debacle.
Back at the palace, the prince finds little peace in drink, whilst his mother measures him up yet again.
If ever he needed compassion and love it is this moment.  He is desperate for her to be there for him; to love him. He begs and pleads, cries his soul out for her to love him and help him.
But his desperation is frightening and abhorrent to her; his need for love a repulsive weakness. She pushes him way as she always has, and coldly, she reminds him who he is and what is expected of him.
