How you can help keep this site up and running...
........
..........
This website has seen a steady growth in viewership in the past months.  I am absolutely thrilled about this as it means more and more people are wanting to know about Will.

However, with this good news also comes a potential problem - that of
bandwidth usuage and bandwidth theft. I am already beginning to experience a problem with this now. If you are unfamiliar with bandwidth (or data transfer), it's written up nicely in the above link.  In the most basic terms, every time someone visits this site, the pages, the photos, or links to an image or page, it's counted as a hit. The site is only allowed so many hits under its service contract or the server's capabilities. If that is exceeded, it can result in the site closing down or even crashing.

This site is currently recuperating from a massive attack of bandwidth theft. This was caused primarily by another website linking directly to my photos instead of saving them onto their own servers.
So please do not link directly to any photos on this site. Please right-click, then 'save as', name the file and save into a folder on your hard drive.  If you have any questions on doing this, please contact me.  I don't bite. I am very nice and I want my site to remain up so I can continue to share photos with you.

Also, until further notice, please try to limit your visit to the site to once a day  and not on the weekends (unless you only visit once a week and it's on the weekends). This will keep down the hits on the site as well.  I generally update very late at night or in the morning, (Washington, DC EST). I rarely ever update on the weekends.  And until the current bandwidth drain is stablized, I will definitely not update on the weekend for any reason.

To prepare for the possibility the site might experience interruptions in service at some point, I have started a new
yahoo!group to post notices about site problems or other information I would like to share with you during such a situation. This is not a forum or chat group.  Only I will be able to post messages and it will only be to communicate site problems.  You can always reach me through email.

Finally, one last plea regarding the photos. As I've said before, I don't mind anyone downloading them. With a few exceptions, I don't own them. If you download the screen caps, I would please ask that you credit my site as the source as I did create those.  The other photos, it's up to you whether you credit my site or not.  But PLEASE - do not publish or post any of Roy's photographs or the autographed photo from Will to me. I don't really have a problem if you download even those for your personal files. I do have a major problem if you post them in a public or private forum. Please respect my request on this as I do not want to have to start protecting images so that no one can download them at all.  Sorry to be a grump about this, but I had to make this plea again because I have found those very photos on other will kemp sites with not even a credit to Roy as the photographer. That omission alone is enough to make me grumpy.

In any case, thanks to everyone in advance for your help in keeping wk.org running smoothly. We're gearing up for some good times here as
Wind in the Willows opens, followed by Mindhunters and a few months later, Van Helsing. So, it's in all our best interests to keep vigilant about the bandwidth situation. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

All Best,

Dani

P.S. Thanks to Jackman's Landing for the link to the bandwidth article and always for your invaluable
       advice. You remain the best.
