| *Here's What's Happening in Will's World* October 14th: 2nd update -- The Gap Portrait book is now available in select US Gap stores. The first link shows Will's book cover and the inside photo which is used. The second link will take you to the Gap Project Red pages which feature some of the celebrities involved in the project, a map of the Gap stores which carry the entire Project Red line, links to the various products offered, a video and stories and information on the Project itself. The softcover book is $35.00 with a woven cloth cover over very thick cardboard material and a very sturdy binding. It is a large (coffee table type) book and is actually pretty heavy. They did not carry any of the hardcover books at my store, but frankly, the softcover book looks and nearly feels like a hardcover. I'm sorry but I do not know whether Gap stores outside of the US have started selling the book or the product line yet, so best bet is to call around. It's a fantastic book with incredible photography and full of celebrities I didn't know had ever been photographed for Gap. I hope everyone has good luck in obtaining the book with Will's cover. And Will, you look great on the cover of a book! October 14th: Well I found out why I couldn't find mention of 'Miguel & William anywhere in the Rome Film Festival programme. As we learned recently, Bavaria Films acquired international distribution rights for the film. As part of the pre-launch campaign, they want to show to their potential buyers some images of the film. This footage will not be screened in a public theatre. It will be used to prepare the "buzz" around the film. There are no plans for cast members to be there. "Buzz" is good. October 12th: Mariela has been up to her wonderful tricks again. She has translated the character profiles of Leonor's two suitors, Shakespeare and Cervantes from the Official Site into English so that we non-español speaking fans can get our first look inside the minds, hearts and souls of these two literary giants as they battle it out with quill and sword. After reading the character description for Shakespeare, is it just Mariela and myself or do there seem to be quite a number of uncanny personality traits shared between the two Wills? Unfortunately or maybe not so, I tend more towards the Cervantes type - 'strong, sensitive, imaginative, with a 'dark side'. Hey, someone's gotta love 'em. I would like to say to my fantastic photographer friend Roy, thank you for my new website banner. I'm loving it lots! October 11th: Sorry for the last minute notice on this, but for those in the UK who get digital channel More 4, you will catch his Willness amongst a very select group including Prima Ballerina Darcey Bussell, politician Anne Widdicombe and filmmaker Ken Russell, who tell their own personal ballet stories on a show called 'Ballet Hell'. The title itself is reason enough to want to check it out. In any case, hope you are a late-nighter or can tape it. It will be on at 1135pm tonight (Wednesday, 11 October ). For the rest of us, my UK friend Mandy just might be able to help us out with a transcript of Will's comments. Mandy are you reading this? October 6th: Bavaria Film International announced that it is going to introduce the "first images" of Miguel and William to the "international marketplace" during the Rome Film Festival (October 13–21,2006). Try as I might I have yet to find any listing of it on the programme. Since it is in the form of a preview of some sort I would imagine it wouldn't be listed anyway. All the same, I still hope to find confirmation of its appearance at the festival and will let you know. Another translation from the Miguel and William Website..... The Character of Leonor And one iddy biddy pic of the threesome. October 3rd: For those of us not versed in Spanish, Mariela has come to our rescue again. She will be translating the Synopsis and the Character descriptions from the offical website. First translation from the Miguel and William Website...... The Synopis (Sinopsis) By the way, in regards to the M&W website, I know some people have been having trouble getting the trailer to play properly. It seems to be working itself out because the clip now ends with the title of the film instead of cutting off abruptly in mid-scene. (Loved the 'heavy metal' look Will takes on in the added footage). In any case, the site is obviously a work in progress and I am not even completely sure that it was meant to be seen just yet. But regardless, it's fantastic to get that first little tease of what's to come. And you know it's only going to get better and better...and harder and harder to wait. October 1st: Oh boy oh boy. Look what I stumbled across: !!!!!!!!!!! Yep, they have begun work on the Official Website....the Spanish version anyway. And I hear that they are in the midst of a photo session in Madrid right now as well. Hopefully this means we will start to see more pics and articles relatively soon. And that trailer. They don't call those short ones teasers without good reason, do they? I found myself pleading out loud, 'no, no, no.....don't stop yet!' The film is to be released in February of 2007 - five seemingly long months from now. Talk about your "winter of discontent". September 23rd: As it turns out, the portrait collection book that Gap is putting out features images of six "iconic celebrities". In addition to Will's cover, there are covers with Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Basinger, Willie Nelson, Whoopie Goldberg and Dizzie Gillespie, all with different colored covers. Included with the book is a bonus CD with some of the most memorable songs featured in the Gap ads. Here is the press release that the Gap put out in regards to the publication. As it states, (Individuals) "will be available in mid October at select Gap stores in the U.S. and Canada as well as Indigo bookstores in Canada and all major book retailers in the U.S. including Borders, Barnes & Noble, Amazon.com and independent bookstores throughout the country. A paperback edition will retail for $35 in the U.S. and $40 in Canada while a deluxe hard cover version, packaged in a limited edition Gap denim tote, will retail for $150 in the U.S. and $180 in Canada." After much calling around to the Gap, the distributer and some of the online booksellers, I have yet to find anyone who will guarantee shipment of a specific cover when ordering online or from the distributer. (Clarification - the book is published by Melcher Media, but its distribution is being handled by DK Publishing). According to the distributer, however, each box shipped out to booksellers contains all the covers. So at this point it appears that once the book is released you may have to visit the bookstores or call them and see if they have Will's cover and can ship it to you or hope that you are near a Gap store which is selling it. Things can always change though and if I find out otherwise I will let you know. Likewise if anyone finds an online bookseller that will guarantee the cover, please let us know. Remember....where there's a Will, there's a way. September 22nd: Some more of the many moods of The Bard. By the way, in case you didn't know, bard means poet and Shakespeare is of course, the most famous of them all. Let's start with a gracious Shakespeare. Then there is the playful or maybe flirty Shakespeare; probably both. And watch out for a rather menacing Shakespeare. September 18th: Brief article and video recap of the New York Launch of the Gap's Celebrity Portrait Collection. September 14th: Remember this? (requires Quicktime) - also found now on YouTube, (faster download but quality not as good). Will and The Gap were back together again last week as he attended the London launch f "Individuals: Portraits from the Gap Collection" which was hosted by Vogue, The Gap and The RED Organization. Proceeds from the book and Gap (RED) products, will go to the RED charity to help in the fight against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. In both hardcover and paperback, this collector's item will feature some of the most distinguished celebrities to have graced The Gap's advertising ads. And not only is one of Will's photos included in the book, but word is that he is featured on one of four different book covers. The book will be released on October 16th but you can already find it for pre-order on several sites including Barnes & Noble, Looney Tunes (?), Amazon and the distributer, DK (Dorling Kindersley). I do not know yet how to ensure purchase of Mr. Kemp's cover, but you know I will be working hard to find out for you. If anyone comes across this information, please, please let me know. Miguel & William's Director, Ines Paris, talks about her approach to film-making and what she strives for as a screenwriter and director in this recent interview. Thanks Mariela. September 7th: WINE AND MOVIES GET MARRIED ‘Miguel y William’, starring Will Kemp, Elena Anaya, Geraldine Chaplin and Juan Luis Galiardo, will be premiered on Friday September 22nd. The money collected will go to the ‘Children Against Cancer’ Program. This introduction appeared recently on the La Tribuna de Ciudad Real website. The article talks about the 2nd European Movie Film Festival "Wines from Castilla La Mancha". The festival runs from 17-23 September and also serves as an occasion to honor one of Spain's most celebrated and important actors, Juan Luis Galiardo. He will receive a special recognition for his distinguished acting career from the Foundation Lumiere on the last day of the festival. The article and a couple other related articles from various websites, in addition to talking about Galiardo's illustrious film career, also discuss some of the other important guests who will attend the festival, including actors, producers and directors who will talk about the film industry. As well, of course, lots of films to watch. The bottom line for us to ponder though, is that they all seem to imply in some manner that the festival will serve as a 'platform for the opening of 'Miguel and William'. Hmmm. I don't know if that means they might be showing an early cut or just clips from the film , a trailer or what because all the trade industry publications, including Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, still show the film in post-production with a release date of early 2007. Very interesting. Have to keep watching for any other news on that front. By the way, word is that there already is a trailer out for the movie which is playing in various cities in Spain and, I might add, is being well received. C'mon. Is it any wonder? I must thank my 'Miguel and William' partner in crime, Mariela for all her continued hard work in translating all these articles for me. She is a dream and I am very lucky to have her as a friend and a wk.org colleague. |
