May 26th:

A few more photos of the talented and handsome Mr. Kemp.  Click here.

And a couple of articles on
Mindhunters - a short interview with Will and a synopsis with studio production notes.
Thanks Mariela.

If you haven't been over to
MatthewBourne.org in the past couple of days,
Friends of New Adventures has acquired some of the incredible design artworks of Lez Brotherston, which they are now offering for purchase.  The funds will be used to help finance workshops for Edward Scissorhands.

May 24th:

More photos from Japan.... click here .... absolutely love the black & white.

The devil made him do it.
Matthew Hart shares his experiences working on the production of The Soldier's Tale.

May 18th:

A very kind Will Kemp fan sent in a couple 'snippets' from the final performance of 'The Soldier's Tale'; much more fun than the usual newspaper review, as I am sure you will agree.

"The last night of The Soldier's Tale got off to an unexpected start when Will's microphone was (unbeknown to him) accidentally switched on too early.  He was making his way to the wings and still warming up his voice for his part as the Narrator. Seconds before curtain up, the audience were  somewhat amused to be greeted with 'Ah, there you are - I knew you'd come' (from Wind in the Willows!) booming from the PA. Will was mortified when he found out after the show --  the cast generally warm up with rather earthier exchanges!

Zenaida, Adam, Matthew and Will all performed their socks off and it was a magnificent conclusion to an all-too-short run. It being the final night, there were a few additional (and intentional!) gags;  we witnessed the show's beginning with the conductor, having been helped in apparently the worse for wear, still slumped rather alarmingly over an onstage table (in appropriate costume and  make-up) until Will's introduction to the 'Beelzebub' musicians when he staggered into position. The noisy curtain calls drew increasing improvisations from a cast obviously enjoying every moment. As did we!

The show's choreographer, Will Tuckett, is apparently exploring ways of bringing this wonderfully inventive piece and its 'dream team' to a wider audience - let's hope he succeeds!"

(
My thanks to this Kemp fan for sharing.)

Now.  It is finally time to share with you our first lady Swoon. This beautiful dancer was once a Principal with the Royal Ballet. Whilst she continues to dance freelance in diverse projects, she has also made the graceful leap to  theatre, revealing what a remarkable actress she is as well; even nominated for an Olivier as Best Actress in a Musical. One of her biggest fans has written in to nominate her for our Swoon Hall of Fame and I dare say we would all agree, she is most definitely Swoon Worthy......

May 16th:

Well, most of us couldn't be there, but Mandy was able to get us a couple of photos as the curtain went down on 'The Soldier's Tale' this past Saturday.
I haven't seen any reviews or photos in the papers though. *grumble*

We do, however, have several more photos from Will's excellent adventure to Japan last month.  These photos are courtesy of the promoter HoriPro Inc.  Please also visit my friend
Ginko's beautiful website for more photos and information from the event. Her website can be viewed in both Japanese and English.

Haven't heard any news as to Will's attachment to
'Ghosts' or 'Pinocchio' but the Royal Opera House has put out its first teaser in their most recent magazine.

My thanks to Mandy for the photos and ROH article.

May 13th:

A lucky Friday the 13th.  At long last Mindhunters opens in the US. See you at the movies!

May 12th:

Here's a rare treat.  The chance to own the original artwork of a Tony and Olivier award winning designer.  What makes it all the better for Will Kemp fans is that some of these sketches are from 'The Soldier's Tale'. Check out Adam-Cooper.com where Karen and Jane have just added several fantastic original pieces from the brilliant mind and hand of Lez Brotherston.

May 11th:

****** Best Wishes Will, Matthew, Adam and Zenaida******

On opening night of 'The Soldier's Tale'

     ******

Plus two more photos from Will's recent visit to Japan.  Thanks Eriko.

May 10th:

With the very good news that Highland Fling will have another run at Sadler's, I've got the programme in total for you. The only items that I've left out are a couple of photos that are already posted on this site  --
see
HF page for link --  and the cast and crew bios, with the exception of Will's and Matthew's, which I have included. All cast/crew bios and additional production credits will be uploaded onto Matthew's site by month's end as I am sure many of you would like to know more about the other members of this super cast and team of creatives.

On the
Mindhunters front, Kathryn Morris talks about the film on a recent
Early Show segment.  Miramax adds a new poster to the collection. And a few more reviews have been posted over at Rotten Tomatoes.

May 9th:

Second chance.....to see Highland Fling in London.  Sadler's Wells has announced a second season of the production, 26 August - 03 September. Tickets are now on sale.  Word is that it will be the current cast.......

May 3rd:

While Mindhunters is opening on May 13th in the US, The Soldier's Tale will be opening in London on May 11th. You've got to admit it's pretty cool timing, not to mention how fantastic it is for Will to be appearing on the big screen and on the London stage at the same time. Takes a certain talent, eh?

I did see the
Mindhunters trailer on television last night, so if you are in the US, keep watching for it on prime time TV.  As far as Soldier's Tale, I found out that they've now had a week of rehearsals. Everyone's working hard and it's been exhausting but it's going quite well. They have already had a full run-through (yesterday), so now it's basically getting things fine tuned. There have been a few changes from last year's production, but the changes are not major in regards to story or characters.

Try to keep a stiff upper lip. Here are the last of the
'cover boy' photos. Now it's wait and see until the next magazines hit the shelves in Japan. It is my understanding that Will  interviewed with quite a few. So, as they say, fingers crossed.

May 2nd:

Teri over at Val Kilmer Newsletter has put together a terrific Mindhunters page with some updated items including two commercial trailers that are now airing in some markets.  May 13th is indeed the US release date.

I've added two more photos from
Top Stage magazine and the link to a translated interview Will did with one of the papers there, The Herald Asahi.

April 29th:

The first Japanese magazine articles with Will are now out and thanks to a dear friend in Japan, I am able to share them with you. I am starting you off with one photo today; the others will be forthcoming next week. I am quite sure this stunning little photo will get you through until then.

So,
Mindhunters is just around the corner and it still looks promising for a May debut - whether it's the 13th or 27th still isn't quite clear. But my friend Heather reports that the trailer has been airing on television in the Los Angeles area over the past couple weeks. So maybe, just maybe....

Congratulations six times over. Matthew Bourne's Play Without Words was nominated for six Drama Desk Awards by the New York critics after a smashing run in New York this spring.  What a tremendous thrill to see this production, this Company and of course Matthew, recognized to such an extent and by so many.  I'm so happy I'm practically speechless! For more on the nominations and awards please head over to Matt's place

April 27th:

New Adventures has just updated their site with a rundown on Will's hectic  schedule during his trip to Japan. To go along with that, NA has kindly sent along these
two photos of the Fan Event and the Sylphide Cafe´ opening.

April 15th:

The good news is -- there are three pages of photos from La Sylphide Café opening and the Yoga Workshop that Will participated in. The bad news is -- they are over on WireImage. Thumbnails only or ten bucks gets you a month's viewing of a slightly larger pic. You need a commercial account to access and download the real magilla.
In any case, some nice shots in there.

April 14th:

Friday the 13th - a new May release date for Mindhunters?  So say a few of the big movie sites (Comingsoon, IMDb, Counting Down), as well as the Mindhunters' film site.  Whatever the date, it won't come soon enough. In the meantime though, there is always the trailer.

As you can see, I've added a 'quick glance' calendar to this page to help us better keep track of Will and his projects. He can run but he can't hide!

April 13th:

Last chance to see Will in the current UK run of Highland Fling! He will return from Japan to join the Company in Brighton next week.  Here are his performance dates:

Tuesday, 19April - evening
Thursday, 21April - matinee
Friday, 22April - evening
Saturday, 23April - evening

Right now I imagine he is up to his eyebrows in interviews....and adoring fans! Oh you lucky, lucky fans in Japan!

April 8th:

Swooning is back. It's been awhile since Mandy and I inducted someone into our 'Hall of Fame', but there will be three new members in the next few months, one of whom will be our first lady Swoon. We are pretty excited about that.  Happily, I go first with a pick and it will be no surprise that this guy is not only going into the 'Hall', he's getting a little something else to go with it. I could never find enough adjectives for how much I love watching him perform.  Like Will, he is in a league, a world, a universe of his own. An electrifying stage presence and brilliantly unique - that is Matthew Hart.

April 6th:

Will heads to Japan next week and as with Van Helsing, he's got a nonstop schedule full of interviews and fan events.  These are included:

13 April / 600pm /  Yoga Workshop / Yoga School
14 April /  Highland Fling Cafe Opening / Marunouchi Bldg.
14 April / 700pm / Fan Event / Tokyo Tower
15 April / 1130am / TV Appearance / Studio Park

All events subject to change. Please reconfirm locally. Some events may require special invitation.

See
MatthewBourne.org if you are attending one of these events and would like to contribute photos or 'on-the-spot' comments for the next NewFriends newsletter.

As he will be doing several print interviews whilst there, please look for him to appear in a variety of magazines in the next few months.

Have a great time Will!
