| February 27th: Good news indeed. Will danced three peformances at High Wycombe this past week and will be dancing three at Sadler's in London. Check your ticket stubs - Wednesday, 02 March matinee, Thursday, 03 March evening and Saturday, 05 March evening. Welcome back Will. Thanks to Penny and June. I am off to London to experience a dream come true - Will and Matthew together again. That means no updates for the next week and a half. Watc ballet.co for any forthcoming reviews from the Sadler's run. February 23rd: The most recent ROH Magazine has commenced adverts for the upcoming spring production of William Tuckett's, 'The Soldier's Tale', which is slated for May. While Will, Matthew Hart and Adam Cooper are listed as reprising their roles, it should be noted that this is not official. To my knowledge no contracts have been signed and it is more a case, at least for the moment, of their all very much hoping to be in the production. We hope so too. Click here for the ROH magazine article. Thanks Mandy! February 20th: Congratulations Matthew and Stephen on the Olivier Award for Best Theatre Choreographer. It was a tremendously deserved award. Of course, we all know Matthew and Richard deserved the Best Director award as well.......must have lost to Nicholas Hytner by a whisker... :) Recount? See a list of all the evening's award recipient's right here. February 19th: A short video clip of those HF rehearsals is now available. The fans in Japan are also seeing the clip on TV as well as on some of their trains - imagine that! My wonderful friend Mitori has sent us the link so that we can all share in on the fun. The clip also includes a brief still photo promo shot of Will in his kilt and ends with that trademark smile of his. Thanks again Mitori. **mwwaa** February 18th: Best wishes to Matthew who is up for two Olivier Awards this Sunday in the categories of Best Director (co-direction with Richard Eyre) and Best Theatre Choreographer (with Stephen Mear) for Mary Poppins, which is nominated for a total nine Oliviers all together. February 17th: Our first look at the production. The last photo in the series features Adam Galbraith as James. Photos with Will and James Leece in that role are forthcoming. Really - how fabulous does this production look? Not to mention the stunning photography of Bill Cooper. A million and one thanks to Ben. February 16th: And now for something absolutely, positively........... wonderful. Many thanks Ben. February 15th: First Night lowdown over on matthewbourne.org. Mr. Bourne and Company, along with Mr. Brotherston, have done it again. (Kind of heartbreaking not to see Will's name on that cast list. But word continues positive on his getting there soon.) February 11th: The curtain comes up tomorrow night on Highland Fling. Best wishes to Will, Matthew and the Company for a fantastic First Night and a tremendous tour to follow. February 7th: Fit as a fiddle! Our wonderful Will is back in action after having missed a bit of rehearsal time due to illness. Before you start wringing your hands or fretting needlessly, I've been in touch with him and he is doing great, is in rehearsal and loving every minute. He does have a bit of catching up to do however, and so he won't be quite ready to take the stage when HF opens this Saturday. As time for rehearsal has to be fitted in along with the run of the show, there is no timeline that either Will nor New Adventures can provide as to when he will be back in the show. However, rest assured it is only a matter of a few weeks. I will, of course, keep you posted as to when we might expect to see the marvelous Mr. Kemp go tartan. And to Will, on behalf of all your wk.org fans - happy to hear you are back in the pink and we absolutely, positively cannot wait to see you in that kilt! February 6th: This past Friday, Matthew was a guest on BBC2's radio programme The Green Room. For those of you who have not yet tuned in, you've still got a short window of opportunity to do so. Matthew talks in depth about the ideas and inspirations behind the storyline, the characters and the reworking of Highland Fling. He also reveals - TaDa! - that it looks likely that Edward Scissorhands will finally get greenlighted this month and work will begin in earnest; the production to premiere at the end of this year!! It's a fun and fantastic interview. So grab your beverage of choice and kick back and listen. Click here and then click on the Listen Again button. You will need Real Player which is a free download from that site. Matthew's interview comes in at around 20:04 so you will have to forward to 20:00 and then listen to a bit of news and music first. Also from Planet Bourne, see a bit of his handi-work on Mary Poppins. Click on Fun Stuff and you will find a short but fabulous video clip of the production. February 5th: This past Thursday afternoon was pretty special for about 20 members of Friends of New Adventures who sat in on a rehearsal for Highland Fling. The rehearsal lasted about two hours with both casts running through most of the second half of the show. I am told that it was a wonderful and memorable experience for all. Highland Fling opens one week from today in Bromley, UK. February 4th: Matthew Bourne and Lez Brotherston talk to The Source Magazine about Highland Fling. Thanks a mil, Mandy. February 2nd: The official Japanese website forHighland Fling has been updated with some terrific rehearsal photos. Click here and when the page opens up, click on the small triangle on the left hand side. Many many thanks to my friend Mitori. January 31st: If you are a member of Friends of New Adventures then you have received your Winter newsletter and know this; amongst the many pages of goodies there is a review of Press Night for Mary Poppins by June Bourne. Seems Will and Gaby were guests of Matthew's for the London premiere and the party that followed. Quite a party - eight themed floors!!! And there was a photo. And Will was in it. Also in the newsletter, Matthew welcomes Will back to the company. Don't we all. :) As well, Friends membership perks galore in this newsletter, including Highland Fling first night ticket offers for Bromley and Sadler's Wells and the chance to meet the cast. And for members who have made special contributions to Matthew's New Works Fund, the chance to sit in on a rehearsal of the production this Thursday. Membership indeed has its privileges. Think about it and then...... click here to download an application. Many of us don't live in the UK and can't always take advantage of all the perks, but you still get a good deal from the membership and as I've said, with Will in Highland Fling (and fingers crossed) Edward Scissorhands, what better time to become a little bit closer to the action. Finally, if you've been keeping up on the news over at matthewbourne.org then you know that Mary Poppins is up for nine Oliviers and Matthew has been nominated in the categories of Best Director (he co-directed with Richard Eyre) and Best Choreographer (with Stephen Mear as co-choreographer). I had the chance to see it a couple weeks ago and it is truly brilliant. It is also the hottest ticket in town so if you are thinking of going to London between now and April 2006, purchase early because it is selling out months in advance. Congratulations to Matthew - it is much deserved. January 14th: From still life to larger than life - more Swan Lake for you - this time on video. I know it has nothing to do with Will in the present, but it's very cool all the same. Interview with Matthew is fantastic as well. My thanks to Mitori for this great find. January 13th: Larger versions of the three promo photos for 'Highland Fling' can be found here. James Leece and Kerry Biggin are featured. Rehearsals are underway. Swan Lake anyone? Check out these fabulous photos by Bill Cooper over at MatthewBourne.Org. Speaking of which --- Happy Birthday Matthew. January 11th: For those going to see Will in 'Highland Fling', he will not be doing the entire UK run. He will be performing in Bromley, High Wycombe, London, Woking, Wimbledon, Salford, and Newcastle only. He will be performing in Japan 23 June - 10 July as well. See the New Adventures site for the UK dates and cities. |
