The Communities’ Council is co-producing the movie with 10% of the budget. The Communities’ Council of Castilla-La Mancha takes part in the “Miguel & William” production, where both authors will be united in a love story which will lead to their greatest writing creations. Economy Counselor and President of the public enterprise “Don Quixote of La Mancha 2005”, María Luisa Araújo, signed a treaty today with Antonio Saura and Juan Luis Galiardo, both representatives of “Zebra Productions” and the Society “Miguel & William, S.L.” for the co production of the movie which will be directed by Inés París, who also wrote the script. The Counselor said that today’s act is part of a list of activities that the Council has to commemorate the Fourth Centenary of the first edition of “Don Quixote” and also to continue with the promotion of the Castilla-La Mancha region as an attractive and possible place for tourism and development. Actor Juan Luis Galiardo, who will play Miguel de Cervantes, said that filming will start on the 27th of February and that rehearsals for scenes and make up have started today. Antonio Saura also said that the movie will be filmed in different locations such as Castilla-La Mancha (Toledo, Cuenca and Guadalajara) and interior scenes will take place at a studio in Madrid. The cast is as follows, Juan Luis Galiardo will play Miguel de Cervantes; Will Kemp, a British actors with a growing future ahead, will play William Shakespeare; Leonor is Elena Anaya, one of our actresses that is well recognized overseas; the Duke of Obando is José María Pou and la Dueña is Geraldine Chaplin, who comes back to comedy films with this character. The budget for the movie is 6 million euros and the Council will participate with 10%, thus becoming co producer of this film where Warner (USA) and an English production house also take part. The story is about Leonor de Vibero, the daughter of a prominent Spanish business man who lives in England; a young and curious woman who loves theatre and must leave London to go back to Castilla to become the Duke of Obando’s wife. Leonor leaves a desolated lover in London, William Shakespeare, a promising author of comedies who loves the 'pleasures of the flesh', as well as the applause of an audience. In Spain, Leonor meets Miguel de Cervantes, a former soldier and writer that has lost trust in himself and faith in his talent. She convinces Cervantes to write a comedy to celebrate her marriage to the Duke, but then Shakespeare shows up. He has decided to follow Leonor to Spain and stop her marriage because he is in love with her. Leonor, makes Cervantes believe that Shakespeare is a servant and then tries to combine both talents and have a unique masterpiece as a result. Cervantes will contribute with maturity and wisdom, Shakespeare, will bring the dominance of theatrical resources and comedy. For a while, Leonor has both men convinced that she is the one bringing new ideas into their writing. But the lie doesn’t last long.
